Hello,

i just recently installed diablo 2 and the expansion on my laptop. When i'm at the middle of the game, my laptop shuts down and i have restart my quests all over again, which is very annoying. The laptop shuts down randomly and any solutions would be helpful. Thanks|||Hi, welcome to the forums!

Can you give me a bit more detail?

What spec is your laptop?

How long have you had it?

Do you get any error message or warnings?

Do you get a beeping sound when it happens?

Is the base of your laptop very hot when it happens?

Does this happens you play other games of similar or higher spec?

It sounds like your laptop is over heating, check to see where your fan intake is and make sure it is not covered when you play. Also check to make sure the outtake is not covered and that there is air coming out of it.

This is the only suggestion i can make without more details, please let me know anything else that might be relevant.|||Hello,

Umm maybe it overheated on you.|||Update all drivers, use Defraggler and ccleaner to defrag/clean computer.

Also check that your power adapter is plugged

Does it do it with any other programs?|||If my laptop is overheating, how can i prevent it from being overheated?

I play my laptop on the table and this doesn't happen to me when i'm playing other games. Thanks.|||All computers, including laptops heat up. It depends on what surface your laptop is on while you play. If it's on a counter, kitchen table, desk or other flat surface... the heat from it will build up and have no place to do.

It's all about air flow here....|||Hello,

Here's the temperature of my laptop after it shuts down. I don't know if

it's very hot. I assumed it overheated when i was playing diablo. I tried

playing with and without the battery, but the laptop shuts down when i

tried both.Hopefully this will help. Any solutions would be great. Thanks.

As fferjrxx suggests use a can of compressed air to clean all the vents/fans, always hold any fans still (spinning the wrong way may generate current and damage your laptop) and make sure the laptop is powered off with the battery removed while cleaning.

You can also try a program like speedfan to turn your fan speed to maximum instead of letting the laptop increase and decrease fan speeds.

It's a temporary measure but you could try placing a plastic bottle cap under each corner of your laptop, most laptops have fan intakes on the bottom and this will allow better airflow.
