Unable to connect to Battle.net

If using a modem, you may need to connect to your internet service provider before connecting to Battle.Net. For more information, please visit www.battle.net/support/errormessages/

Im connected to the internet, I don't understand how to get online or fix this problem?|||I've gotten this before. Sometimes your net itself may have gone on the blink and you need to reset your modem/router and other times you just need to quit diablo and then open it.|||d2 uses ports 4000 and 6112 (common gaming ports)

if your connecting from a dorm, school, apartment ect.. they may be blocking them|||iono if u got this error still but i have it right now, its exclusive to the realm i usually play on only, the other realms connect fine so im thinkin it has somethin to do with the line which u use to connect to the realm is down, prolly be back up in a few|||you can test 6112 by using telnet

for vista/7 to enable telnet

start -> control panel -> Programs and Features

In the left column, select ‘Turn Windows features on or off’ (allow for the UAC prompt)

tick the box for telnet

xp/2000/9x have telnet enabled by default

start -> run(search) -> cmd [enter] (command[enter] for 9x)

telnet uswest.battle.net 6112 [enter] (you can change uswest to useast/europe/asia if needed)

at the blank screen hit 'c' (case sensitive must be lower)

if 6112 is open it will return

Code:
 This is a Battle.net server

Your IP address is [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] (your internet ip)

Connection to host lost.
|||ffejrxx,

What your telling me to do, is the "run" cmd program a black box? And if so, your saying to do

command

command

command, for nine times?

Then afterwards i type useast.battle.net 6112?|||windows 95-me dont have cmd, use command instead

you will get a command prompt, C:\Documents and Settings\username>, or c:\ for windows 9x

then type the next line|||If the 9x was not clear enough, it means the operating system, either Windows 95 or Windows 98.
