Unrecoverable Error

I've e-mailed this to Blizzard, but probably won't get a response until mid-week. Basically, I've had unrecoverable errors before, but since the last Windows Update, this has happened every time the game is run, at variable lengths of play. These times, however, the Game.exe is left running in the process list and will not allow access to end it. The result of running another instance will toss you from any game, using any character on any realm at almost exactly 45 seconds into play - even in single-player! The only current resolution is to reboot in order to play again normally, but the crash simply occurs again.

On a side note, the Windows Update before last removed Yahoo's right-click menu options and probably caused a few other things to go wrong. If I don't get an answer to this I'm going to start suspecting Microsoft and Vivendi are teaming up to anger even more people to leave this game.|||Quote:

Yes, because Blizzard should have anticipated any problems with Microsoft's updates and taken them into account of course :)

What do you mean you can't end the game.exe process in a crash? What error do you get when you do try to end the process?

I assume you've already tried to re-install the game. Is there a D2### file in your installation directory?|||I will not re-install. I'm sick of being told to do that by a company who's uninstall process deletes .cfg and .sav files, and I don't have a single desire to go through by hand and figure it all out only to end up being wrong. They should write their product better.

As for End Process, very simply, Access is Denied - that's it. The CD-Key still being in use is probably related to the still-running .exe, as when this problem happens I simply hit reset and when logging back into B.ent the key isn't being used. Hence, it's the game, not Ben.t. I'm currently looking into the possibility of a corrupt game file, but all Blizzard gave me was the same 're-install' crap that I simply won't go through again - if I uninstall, it stays that way. Goodbye Blizzard.|||I am having internal error issues as well - specifically:
