Unhandled exception, Breakpoint 80000003

[:1]I have looked in both of the stickies in this section and haven't found anything that seems useful. I've also Googled this problem and found a very other threads in which people had it, but it seems to be a pretty rare error because Google had very few results that were relevant. The few things that I did find also did not provide much help.

Does anyone know what to do about this error? I've tried quite a few things but I keep getting it. Basically after playing for a minute or two, the game will freeze, and when I minimize it I get an error saying "Unhandled exception, Breakpoint 80000003," the only option is "ok," and it then closes Diablo 2. Does anyone have a solution for this? Judging by some of the things I looked at in Google it apparently has something to do with a video card, but could I fix this without having to go out and buy one?

I've tried deleting stuff for more space, copying the MPQ files, reinstalling, as well as a ton of other things.|||os?

xp/vista/7 are you logged into windows as an administrator?

vista/7 right click on the shortcut, compatability tab, disable visual themes and disable desktop composition

if it still happens, try reinstalling and patch|||Quote:

Vista, I just tried what you said, and I'll see if it works. Thanks a lot.

EDIT: Didn't work, got the error again. I've reinstalled it and made sure I have the latest patches.|||What exactly are you doing when it happens? I ran into a similar problem a few years ago, and it was linked to the cinematics. When moving from Act to Act, the game tried to play the cinematics but couldn't due to sound card / video card issues. Once I resolved those, the problem went away.|||Quote:

It just happens randomly during gameplay. I just started playing a little while ago and haven't even made it past the first quest or w/e because of it.|||Try this, by courtesy of Sixen on the official B.net forums.

I suggest trying a complete reinstall.

You will need to reinstall AFTER getting rid of the registry keys that say that you still have LoD installed.

***UNINSTALL the game first Start>Run>regedit

IF there is ONLY DiabloII on the machine then you can get rid of the whole of the battle.net and Blizzard entertainment branches in ALL HKEYS, otherwise.

>HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Blizzard Entertainment> DiabloII highlight and delete.

>HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Battle.net > diabloii battle.net gateways, highlight, delete.

Now we need to know if you have Starcraft or Warcraft 3 installed, IF YOU DO, be CAREFUL with these steps or you could end up reinstalling all 3 games!

Then look in

>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software>Blizzard entertainment> DiabloII highlight, delete

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> Battle.net Highlight, delete

If any or all of these keys can not be found, do NOT worry, some of them may have been removed during the uninstallation process.

Then, go and delete your Diablo directory. You can keep your saved characters by copying the save folder to the desktop.

Next, reinstall the game, and then put the Save folder back into your directory.

Lastly, I recommend patching the game manually. You can download the patch here from the link below. Once you've downloaded the patch, bring it to your DiabloII directory and execute it there.

(http://www.Blizzard.com/patches).|||also download the game from blizzard

register your game keys and use the downloader and install, then patch

1. create a blizzard store account

https://us.battle.net/account/creation/tos.html

2. pick on account management

https://us.battle.net/account/management/

and add game

https://us.battle.net/account/management/add-game.html

enter your d2 and lod keys

3. return to account management

pick on d2 write down the converted key

and download the installer

repeat for lod

4. install them and patch
