Volume fluctuations when listening to music from a media player while gaming

[:1]I've been looking for a solution for this problem for a while, but to no avail...

Winamp, Win7, the sound driver or Diablo2 is ducking music volume when something lound happens ingame. As if some gnome inside my winamp turned down the music to make it easier to hear the sound of warcries, teleports, etc.

This is starting to get more than a little annoying, as I'm playing SP, doing the same run(s) over and over again, and I want to listen to something else than the ingame music, while still be able to hear when that Cham rune drops from Toorc Icefist...

Anyone else had similar problems?|||Check your sound settings in control panel, specifically the Communications tab. Make sure that "When Windows detects communications activity:..." you have "Do nothing" selected.|||Nice suggestion, hadn't tried that, but it didn't work. Even if I set that setting to "Mute all other sounds", the problem remains exactly the same. It's probably not an issue with winamp, since playing the same song in VLC results in the exact same behaviour.|||Reducing the volume in winamp and d2, then increasing it on the amp cures it. Probably the sound driver is overprotective of my amp/speakers...
